Air Geneva international airport is 50 minutes away and is served by many of the main airlines. We have listed a selection of carriers below: There are numerous car hire companies providing rental vechiles from both the Swiss and French side of Geneva airport. If you don't want to drive, there are a variety of ways to get to the Mont Blanc region, airport transfers are the most direct and effective. Our chosen partner is: Sea Travel Travelling to and from France Road Access to the Mont Blanc area is relatively simple using the main autoroutes. Journey times from Calais are roughly 8 hours. As part of our service, we will provide you with detailed directions when we have received the balance of your holiday payment but additional route planning can be accessed through: http://www.via-michelin.com The main autoroutes in France are toll roads and as such require you to pay. Payment can be made in cash or by your bank/credit card in the automatic machines. Speed limits on the French autoroutes are 130 KM/hr in good weather. In the rain it drops to 110km/hr. Speed camera’s are becoming increasingly popular and any fines are being pursued in the home country. If you are travelling through Switzerland on the autoroute you will be required to purchase of a ‘vignette’. This vignette allows you access to all the autoroutes on the Swiss motorway network for 12 months. The cost is 40 CHF – approximately £18. If you are hiring a car from the Swiss side of Geneva, do check that your car has a vignette. The speed limit in Switzerland is 120km/hr and this is enforced. If you are travelling in either country from October, it is a legal requirement to carry snow chains and to have winter tyres on your car. Most rental cars will have this as standard but it worth checking before you accept your vehicle.
