The famous Chamonix valley stretches from Vallorcine down to Servoz. Lying just 8km from Chamonix is the lively town of Les Houches which nestles in between the steep sides of the valley.
 Les Houches church Les Houches is well served by a free train that starts in Le Fayet and terminates in Martigny, Switzerland. The local bus network links the valley effectively dropping you at the ski lifts from Chamonix to Le Tour. Les Houches enjoys a large ski area of its own which every year hosts the Men's World Cup Alpine Ski Downhill race on the famous Khandahar Black run. The event is always well attended and exudes a great atmosphere .  Les Houches piste The village also has a woodland adventure play ground, fishing lake and a climbing crag. In the winter there are two cross country pistes, an open air ice rink, one nursery slope in the village and a 'jardin de neige' with a creche for little ones learning to ski.
